Excerpts from FCV's letter to the Gold Award Panel recommending approval of Kathy, Tra, Elizabeth and Thi's Girl Scout Gold Award -- which we are proud to say was awarded.
"It is very hard to put into words how impressed our families were by the programs planned and carried out by these charming and talented young ladies. They planned a quality program that was perfectly suited to their audience and was excellent from beginning to end.
Kathy, Tra, Elizabeth and Thi put a lot of planning and care into the quality of the programs for our families..... The children learned to make the homemade lemonade that is common to many Vietnamese meals, while their parents learned to make Vietnamese spring rolls, salads and desserts. Both children and adults learned about Vietnamese history and holidays and how to speak some words in Vietnamese. They also learned about Vietnamese fashion, martial arts, music, and games. Each family also received take-home materials to help them remember some of the things they learned when they returned home.
All of the families who participated in this event came away with a greater understanding of Vietnamese Culture, but also with a great respect for the young ladies who carried out this event. They put so much of their time and their hearts into this project and the result was something that the families will remember for a long time to come. All of the families present would be proud to have our children grow up with the maturity and character to carry out a project like this when they are the ages of these young ladies."
